Calling All Writers! ATA鈥檚 Public Relations and Advocacy Committees Need Your Help!

Volunteer for ATA and put your writing skills to great use! The PR and Advocacy Committees are seeking strong writers with a passion for raising awareness about the T&I professions to join their teams. Volunteers should be self-starters who can work with minimal guidance to help draft content such as press releases, blog posts, statement letters to decision-makers, etc. Volunteers must be current ATA members in any individual member category.

Contact Jamie Hartz (jamie@tildelanguage.com) or Ben Karl (ben@bktranslation.com) to learn more.

Scam Alert!

We鈥檝e recently noticed an increase in spam emails that are supposedly from ATA Executive Board members. If you receive an email that looks suspicious from an ATA Board member (e.g., one asking you for a favor or containing a link or attachment), do not respond. Just delete it.

Phishing emails and text messages often tell a story to trick you into clicking on a link or opening an attachment. You might get an unexpected email or text message that looks like it鈥檚 from an individual or organization you know or trust. The message could be from a scammer. When in doubt, simply create a new email to your contact to verify that they sent the message. Remember, the best defense is vigilance.

Reporting Scams

If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true. There are many ways to report scams, most of them as easy as completing an online form. Your complaint will help authorities around the world spot trends and coordinate efforts to combat fraud.

You鈥檒l also find a basic overview of scams and how to avoid them on ATA鈥檚 website. 听
